Personal Home Care
Often called non-medical or private duty, personal care services help individuals remain safe, independent and engaged in leading enriched lives. It’s often the kind of in-home help that allows people to avoid moving out of their homes into a more expensive and less attractive setting. This can include companionship and also assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). Activities of daily living are routine activities that people do every day without needing assistance. The basic ADLs include eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring (walking) and continence. An individual’s ability to perform these ADLs is an important part of understanding the type of services that are needed. In most instances, these services are provided to seniors who may need a little extra help or in some instances more help like 24 hours 7 days a week or even a live-in arrangement. These services can also be utilized as a source of respite by another person who is providing care to their loved one. Many times, family caregivers enlist the help of someone else – whether a friend, sibling or paid professional – to help with certain tasks when they have their hands full. A professional from Alliance Services can be a great relief to overworked family caregivers who need a break.
Medication Reminders Can Help Avoid Unnecessary Hospitalization
A growing number of adults – approximately four out of five – are currently taking at least one medication while nearly one-third of adults take more than four prescription medications at the same time. Remembering to take medications on time is a big challenge, especially for the elderly. Alliance Services Care Program Professionals can assist with reading labels and reminding seniors to take their appropriate medications.
In-Home Care Services and Companionship Enrichment Activities Go Beyond Keeping Individuals Safe and Independent
Alliance Lux Companion Care Program is designed to help seniors lead safe, independent and enriched lives. Customized for the individual, this program focuses on the mind, body, spirit and family and provides a variety of services that go beyond the usual services that many home care companies provide.
Light Housekeeping Helps Keep Things Neat and Can Help Avoid Falls
Keeping up with housekeeping can be a challenge for many seniors. While Alliance Services is not a maid service, Care Professionals can provide light housekeeping services including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. Care Professionals also help with organizing drawers and closets and making sure things are picked up to avoid any slips or falls.
Helping With Laundry Conserves Energy for Many Older Adults
By having Alliance Services Care Professionals help with washing, drying and putting away the laundry, seniors can often conserve their energy for more important tasks. Sometimes these services are done in the home and other times assistance can be provided to clients at a Laundromat.
Meal Preparation is An Important Part of Everyday Living
Nutrition is very important and helping prepare nutritious meals is often the little extra help a senior needs. Many seniors do not have the opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal, and some even participate in cooking activities so they become involved in as much or as little as their ability and desire allow. Often just having someone to eat a meal with makes a significant difference.
Transportation Helps Get You Where You Want to Go
Many seniors have a problem getting to the store, picking up prescriptions, running errands, going to the beauty salon and getting to their doctor’s appointments. Although we’re not a taxi, ambulance or limousine service, many Alliance Services offices provide transportation in conjunction with other personal care and support services. Alliance Services helps provide the extra support which can make a big difference in the health and well-being of seniors. By providing transportation to the doctor’s office, seniors are better able to avoid unnecessary readmission to a hospital or other facility. A trip to the beauty salon is often just what a senior needs to lift their spirits.
Live-In Home Care Services Customized to Meet Individual Needs
Customizing care to each client’s needs is part of the service plan developed by Alliance Services. It can be a few hours a week to full time care. Sometimes clients want live-in home care which means that an Alliance Services Care Professional will live in a client’s home to provide in-home care each day. The services may vary depending upon the needs of the client. By providing live-in services, the client and family members gain peace of mind in knowing there is someone in the home with the client.
24-Hour Home Care Services
There are times when clients need 24 hour services. Depending on the need, Alliance Services can coordinate caregiving with shifts of employees who can provide specific services. In many instances, this type of continuous in-home care service is provided for clients who are at risk when unattended, such as persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related conditions.
Transferring and Positioning
Moving and placing clients in correct posture position helps promote health, safety and proper functioning. Proper transferring and positioning from or into beds and chairs eliminates pressure areas on the skin, reduces weakening and stiffening of muscles, and encourages proper breathing and digestion.
Respite Care and Relief Provides a Much Needed Break for Family Caregivers
Respite care provides breaks from the daily routine of caregiving. It can relieve stress, restore energy and promote the necessary balance in the life of a family caregiver. Whether it’s for a few hours or a well-deserved vacation, Alliance Services can provide the necessary support and relief.

Bathing and Hygiene Provide a Positive Boost for Older Adults
Seniors often need help with bathing and basic hygiene. These services are important in maintaining the client’s physical well-being and often also have an impact on their mental well-being. Being clean and having a more attractive appearance can give seniors a new outlook and help decrease depression.
